Affordable ideas for container garden

Have you ever wondered why do nurseries charge so much for garden planters? Large planters are not only expensive, but also hard to find. In this article, I will show you how to use household objects such as plastic storage containers or trash cans and turn them into beautiful planters. These household items usually come in much lower price tags compared to gardening pots or planters.
The most important step in preparing your containers for planting purpose is to drill holes at the bottom. Most plants do not like to sit in water except for those that prefer wet condition. Also make sure to only use potting soil as garden soil retains too much water that will eventually lead to root rot.
I found these straw mats from Daiso for $1.50 each. They not only are great for covering the ugly pots, but also give my garden a uniform and natural look.
